Woods hit by goal-rush
The Woods crashed to a heavy Evo-Stik League South, East defeat this evening at the hands of Ashford Town, who romped to an incredible 7-1 victory at Chestnut Avenue.
In truth, it wasn't anything like a 7-1 game, with the young Northwood side playing some neat football in spells - but they undone time and again by mistakes in midfield, defence and in goal, which were ruthlessly punished by the visitors, who it must be said were magnanimous in victory.

Penalty pain for Woods
A late aberration by debutant goalkeeper Andrew McCorkell cost him a red card and the Woods a share of the points as Uxbridge won 2-1 in today's Evo-Stik League South, East fixture at Honeycroft.
Northwood had taken the lead early in the second half when Meshach Williams haeded home a cross from Evans Kouassi, before Uxbridge levelled with a deflected free-kick on 75 minutes. And then came the late penalty which handed the points to Uxbridge. The match report and photos are here.

Narrow Youth Cup exit for Northwood
Northwood went out of the FA Youth Cup this evening – but only after a thrilling match at The Meadow against Chesham United, who just edged through 4-3 after extra time.
Femi Azeez put Woods ahead after just 7 minutes after being set up by Kyran Worrell, but Chesham levelled on 16 minutes through Ollie Lawford, son of ex Woods striker John. Lawford scored again to put the home side ahead at the break, but Femi Azeez netted from close range to level things up on 61 minutes.
Soon after, Lawford completed his hat-trick, but Northwood were level on 78 minutes when substitute Sam Netscher headed home Kyran Worrell's cross. There were no further goals in normal time, but in the second period of extra time, Chesham substitute Josh Ahclaid volleyed home to put his side back in front, and the Woods were unable to find a further reply that would have forced a penalty shoot-out. But well done to the youngsters for a tremendous battling performance!

Woods go down to solitary Cambridge goal
Northwood were back in Evo-Stik League, South action this afternoon, but slipped to a single goal defeat in with their first-ever meeting with Cambridge City, who were relegated from the Premier Division last season.
Manager Simon Lane had to make some changes to his side, and goalkeeper Harry Voss had suffered a training ground injury, which meant a return to Woods of last season’s number one Montel Joseph. The home side started strongly, and the early pressure told as they made a tenth minute breakthrough, but although Northwood hit back well, they were unable to level in a close-fought game.
