Support the Northwood FC Community Day!!

The fourth annual Northwood FC Community Club Day is coming up this Saturday, 1st April, when the Woods take on Southern League leaders Royston Town. The whole of the club are expected to be involved, with our partnership with PSD Coaching forming part of the day, as they stage an Under 6s Festival of Football tournament in the park during the morning and lunchtime periods.

Admission to the game against Royston Town is “Pay What You Can”, so the gates will be open and everyone is encouraged to make a donation to club funds in the bucket collection. This is open to all, so please do what you can to spread the word amongst friends and family as well as in the town wherever possible.

If the club are to build on all the hard work and the improvements that have been made to the clubhouse in recent years, we need to get more people through the turnstiles, more people watching games, more people volunteering for small and big roles within the club and the Community Day is really important in getting the word out there that a football club that supports the local community in so many ways is right here in Northwood for all to play a part.

Please do all you can to publicise the Community Day, get to the ground early on the day and create a good atmosphere in the clubhouse against a side who may well bring quite a few supporters. Then, after the match, stay for a couple of drinks and some food before we have the 2017 Grand Draw in the clubhouse around 6.00 p.m., where the top prize is £500 cash. There will be a whole host of other prizes available too, so please make sure you get your tickets - available from the clubhouse now!

The attendances for previous Community Days have been between 300 and 400 so it would be good to at least match…but we are aiming to make it to 500 this year. With YOUR help we can!!

Narrow defeat for Woods at Kidlington

A 90th minute winner cost Northwood a share of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central points at Kidlington this afternoon.

Myles Stephenson hit the post in the first half, and the game was goal-less at the break. Kidlington took the lead with a 67th minute header from a corner, but on 84 minutes Stephenson fired home to equalise. However, the Oxfordshire side grabbed the winner in the final minute, to extend the Woods' disappointing run of results. The match report is here.

Northwood Under 21s brought their own poor run to an end with a 4-2 win against Eversley & California in a Suburban League fixture at Chestnut Avenue, Jay Thorne 2, Jack McDonnell and Alex De La Salle scoring.

Woods' poor run continues

Northwood's recent disappointing run of results continued this afternoon as they crashed to a 0-5 Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central defeat at the hands of local Middlesex rivals Uxbridge.

Uxbridge were three goals up at the break, scoring twice in the second half to go nap. The match report and photos are here.

No good news elsewhere, either, as the Woods' Under 21 side went down 1-5 to Suburban League leaders London Colney at Northwood Park.

Farnborough win six-goal thriller

The Woods gave a battling performance against promotion-chasing Farnborough at Chestnut Avenue this afternoon, but were beaten 4-2 in their Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division fixture.

The Hampshire outfit took a tenth minute lead, but Louis Bircham levelled from the penalty spot in the 36th minute. Then James Budden headed the home side in front five minutes into the second period, but Farnborough showed their quality as they hit back strongly to run out 4-2 winners. The match report and photos are here; all the goals can be seen here, courtesy of Farnborough's Twitter account.

The full colour matchday programme, both printed and electronic, can still be ordered online from our publications section.

Afternoon to forget for Northwood

It was truly an afternoon to forget for Northwood, as they crashed to their largest defeat in over six years at Fleet Town.

The Hampshire outfit cruised to a 7-0 Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central victory; Fleet were four up at the break, and their final tally equalled the reverse against Hitchin Town in December 2010. It was also Northwood's biggest away reverse since Alperton O.B. beat them 8-1 in the Harrow & Wembley League in April 1956!

The match report and photos are here. Northwood Under 21s' Suburban League fixture against Farnham Town was postponed as the Chestnut Avenue pitch was waterlogged.
