Narrow defeat for Woods at Royston
Mark Burgess' Northwood side gave a battling performance away to runaway Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central leaders Royston Town this evening, but were narrowly beaten 2-1.
The Crows maintained their eleven points lead over second-placed Farnborough with this win, but after conceding an early goal, the Woods performed valiantly, with keeper Thomas Spenser playing well.
Royston added a second goal eleven minutes, but Myles Stephenson's quick reply for Northwood made for a tight finish. The match report is here.
Northwood Under 21s' Suburban League Shield fixture this evening at North Greenford was postponed as the pitch was waterlogged.

Chalfont take the points
A solitary first half goal was enough for Chalfont St Peter see off the Woods in a scrappy Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division fixture at Northwood Park this afternoon.
Alex Paine headed home what proved to be the winning goal after nine minutes, and Woods' cause wasn't then helped by the red-carding of Myles Stephenson. The visitors were also reduced to ten men towards the end of the game. The match report and photos will be online in due course.

Woods' Under 21s went down 3-0 away to Eversley & California in a Suburban League fixture.

Northwood are hit for five
Play-off hopefuls Barton Rovers ran out 5-1 winners in an Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division fixture at Sharpenhoe Road this evening.
The first half was even enough, with Rovers leading by a single goal at the break, but a penalty ten minutes after the restart opened the floodgates, and the home side were four up on 65 minutes.
Hopes were raised when Louis Bircham - on as substitutre after a spell out injured - scored with a fine finish on 76 minutes, but a minute later Woods were reduced to ten men when Filipe Anjos was dismissed following a strong challenge. And in the closing minutes Barton netted their fifth to move into third place in the league table. The match report is here.
Jack McDonnell was on target for the under 21s, but they went down 4-1 at Tring Athletic in a Suburban League Shield fixture.

Woods take a point at Kempston
For the second time this season, Northwood this afternoon conceded a stoppage time goal to Kempston Rovers, and as a result drew an Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division game that they so nearly won.
The home side had taken a 30th minute lead, with Myles Stephenson levelling on the stroke of half-time after being set up by Kieran Barnes, shortly after Alex De La Salle had hit the bar. And Stephenson fired the Woods ahead on the hour mark, to put his side so near to all three points until Robbie Goodman made it 2-2 in the 92nd minute. The match report is here.
Micah Bedeau scored his fourth goal in as many games, but Woods' Under 21s slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Dunstable Town in a Suburban League fixture at Chestnut Avenue.

Arlesey run out comfortable winners
Northwood had a disappointing afternoon at Chestnut Avenue as visitors Arlesey Town deservedly took the Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division points as they ran out 3-0 winners.

ust seven minutes through Taylor Rhiney and Jack Vasey headed the second following a 23rd minute corner. Josh Coley wrapped up the points midway through the second half, and Northwood boss Mark Burgess will be looking for his side to bounce back next weekend, when they visit Kempston Rovers.

Woods take a point at Histon
Northwood's new-look side took a point from this afternoon's Evo-Stik Southern League fixture at Histon. The Cambridgeshire outfit went into the Division One Central game on a fine run of four successive wins, but had to settle for a point today.
Histon went ahead early in the game following a dubious penalty award, but Northwood - missing player-manager Mark Burgess and his brother, captain James, who were away - however they levelled with a fine 20 yard strike from Alex De La Salle five minutes before the break.
Fabian Brown scored his second goal in successive games on 58 minutes after Myles Stephenson set him up, only for full-back Tommy Wright to level with a five strike in the 85th minute. The match report is here.

Under 18s goalkeeper sought
The Northwood FC Sunday Under 18s side urgently need to recruit a goalkeeper to their squad.
This could be an opportunity for someone looking to progress in the future to senior football, with the club competing in the Evo-Stik Southern League and Suburban League, as well as running youth teams from Under 7s upwards.
