Northwood and Egham take a point each

The Woods took an Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division point this evening when they drew 2-2 with Egham Town at Chestnut Avenue in freezing conditions, on the coldest November night for six years!

Egham, in the charge of ex Woods manager Gary Meakin, took the lead with a headed goal after just four minutes, Ryan Debattista levelling just before the break.

But the visitors were in front again from the penalty spot two minutes into the second period, only for Luke Heneghan's cross to be put into his own net by Wes Daly to level things up again, and that was how things remained in an entertaining contest. The match report will be online in due course.

Woods take the points at Ashford

The Woods made it three victories within a week as they ran out 2-0 winners at Ashford Town in an Evo-Stik Southern League fixture this afternoon.

Louis Stead fired Northwood ahead with a cracking 30 yard free-kick after 13 minutes - that coming after Ashford had missed a spot-kick in the opening five minutes.

And a well-worked goal superbly finished by Louis Bircham in the 53rd minute effectively finished off the hosts, and in the end the Woods were good value for their win. The match report and photos are here.

Northwood progress in League Cup

An Ismael Ehui goal early in the second half gave Northwood a 1-0 victory over Premier Division Slough Town in the Southern League Challenge Cup second round at Chestnut Avenue this evening.

The Woods' striker swept home an Alex Nolan cross soon after the restart, and that proved to be the only goal of the night. Northwood will play Chalfont St Peter at Chestnut Avenue in the third round. The match report is here.

Ryan's hat-trick earns Woods victory

The Woods recovered from the shock of going behind within 30 seconds to take the Evo-Stik Southern League points with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Bedford Town - and their first double of the season - at Chestnut Avenue this afternoon.

And it was Ryan Debattista who led the way, blasting a hat-trick for Northwood, the winner arriving in the 85th minute. The match report is here.

Woods' Under 21s got back to winning ways with a 4-2 Suburban League victory at Hartley Wintney, the goals coming from Luke Fox, Alex Delasalle and Jamie Doolan 2.

Woods go out of County Cup

Northwood's defence of the Middlesex Senior Cup ended at the first hurdle this evening, when they were defeated 2-1 at Hendon in a second round tie.

The Ryman Premier outfit included five ex-Woods in their squad for the game, in which they went ahead on 42 minutes - only for James Burgess to head home from a corner for the equaliser just two minutes later.

Hendon restored their lead early in the second period, but although Ryan Debattista twice hit the woodwork, Mark Burgess' side were unable to find a second leveller. The match report is here.

The Woods' Under 21 side are also in County Cup action; they went down 5-1 to Harefield United's first team in the first round of the Middlesex Premier Cup, Jamie Doolan scoring for Northwood.

Narrow defeat at Farnborough

The Woods went down to a narrow 2-1 defeat away to title-hopefuls Farnborough in an Evo-Stik Southern League fixture this afternoon.

Farnborough hold second spot in the Central Division, and after a bright start from Northwood, the home side went ahead on 22 minutes. Myles Stephenson, restored to the starting line-up, levelled in the 75th minute when he flicked home a cross from Andy Lomas.

But Shaban restored Boro's single-goal advantage with seven minutes left on the clock, and Farnborough managed to hang onto that lead to claim the points. The match report and photos are here.

Defeat in FA Trophy replay

Northwood took a fifth minute lead against Royston Town in their FA Trophy first qualifying round replay at Chestnut Avenue this evening, but the Crows ultimately claimed the second qualifying round tie at home to Wimborne Town by a convincing 4-1 margin.

An excellent early Woods move saw Luke Heneghan firing them ahead from just outside the box, only for Royston to level with a fortuitous goal a few minutes before the break. But the Evo-Stik League divisional leaders took control in the second half, and once they took the lead on 55 minutes, Northwood were unable to get back into the tie. The match report is here.
