Sydney Ibie earns full-time move to Dagenham & Redbridge
The Club is delighted to announce the transfer of attacker and current top scorer Sydney Ibie, who has joined National League side Dagenham & Redbridge on a full-time contract.
Syd joined the Woods in November 2021 from Potters Bar Town to form part of our new-look squad recruited by the new management team of Steve Ringrose and Ben Bukowski and he made an immediate impact with a debut goal after just nine minutes that earned the Woods their first away win of the season; 1-0 at Chipstead. At 6ft 8in, he made an imposing figure and ended that first season with seven goals from twenty-four appearances and returned for new campaign, very fit and ready to go.
Sydney's form, with plenty of both goals and assists in the opening months of the current season, helped take the Woods to the top of the South Central Division and resulted in several of the inevitable seven-day approaches from higher-ranked clubs, all of which he turned down as he looked to continue his progress with the Woods. Syd has hit a further twelve goals from twenty-one appearances this season.
However, an approach from Dagenham & Redbridge in November was an offer that he felt he had to take seriously and, having quickly impressed in training with the Essex side, he was offered a suitable deal to join up with the Daggers. He becomes the third former Northwood striker to join up with Dagenham following Chris Moore (directly) and Oliver Hawkins (via Hemel Hempstead), both of the previous captures going on to have Football League experience.
Head Coach Ben Bukowski said "I would like to give my thanks to Sydney for his efforts and commitment to the club over the last year. He has been an important part of my first step into management and I am glad to see he is getting the rewards for his hard work. The fans, officials and players at Northwood should all be proud of the platform and environment they have given Sydney to perform to the best of his ability. We will all be keeping a close eye on his progress and wish him all the best."
The Dutch-born 22-year-old Sydney Ibie was at Hemel Hempstead as a youth and was loaned out to a string of clubs to learn his trade - Welwyn Garden City, Aylesbury United, Wantage Town and Chalfont St Peter - but was released from his contract and subsequently joined Potters Bar Town before finding his way to the Woods.
We wish Sydney every success at his new club and hope he goes from strength to strength with the Daggers.

Northwood hit five on the road at Sutton Common Rovers
The Woods got back Pitching In Isthmian League South Central winning ways this afternoon when they went nap away to Sutton Common Rovers, Steve and Ben's men running out 5-1 winners. With Marlow losing, Northwood extended their lead at the top of the table to four points.
On a very cold afternoon on the 3G surface at Whyteleafe, Northwood produced a strong all-round performance, and shared the goals amongst five players. Skipper Luke Tingey opened the scoring just before half-time, but there was no stopping Northwood after the break with Andy Lomas, Juwon Alintunde, Micah Jackson and Josh Helmore all finding the net. The home side netted a consolation in stoppage time.

Great win for Under 18s in Isthmian Youth Cup
Ryan Young’s Northwood under 18s had a difficult-looking Isthmian Youth Cup quarter-final away to National League club Maidstone United yesterday evening – but the young Woods stormed into the last four of the competition with an excellent 4-2 victory!
Jeremy Kwaku-Scholz fired Northwood ahead on 25 minutes, only for the home side to level in first half stoppage time. However, ten minutes after the restart Woods were back in front through Max Lousley.
The game was virtually wrapped up when Oscar John fired home twice within a few minutes, and despite a consolation goal for Maidstone in added time, the night was all about the young Woods!

Late goals give South Park the points at The Skyline
Two goals fairly late in the game saw the Woods go down to their first home Pitching In Isthmian League South Central defeat of the season against a South Park Reigate side which soaked up plenty of pressure in the latter stages of the game and went away with a 2-0 win.
Much of the afternoon's encounter was a tough midfield battle with neither side able to create many chances. But then a 20 yard South Park free-kick found the corner of the net on 75 minutes, and as Northwood pushed for a leveller, a quick break by the visitors was rewarded with the clinching strike three minutes into stoppage time.
