Jack Smith and Jon-Jo Bates are appointed
permanent joint managers

Northwood Football Club is delighted to confirm that the joint management team of Jack Smith and Jon-Jo Bates, who were in interim charge for the successful sequence of nine games that saved the Woods from relegation, have agreed to continue in their roles permanently for the forthcoming 2025/26 season.
Both are new to non-League management but have considerable experience playing at most levels of the Pyramid. Twenty-eight year-old Smith has had three separate spells as a player with Northwood, the first as long ago as 2013, when on loan from Wealdstone while Bates, now 34, also played for the Woods back in 2013 having previously been on contract at Dagenham & Redbridge and returned from retirement in January to help with the relegation battle. The inspirational pair have already started on plans for the new season and are working on the pre-season schedule with a list of fixtures to be finalised shortly.
Jack said: "We're happy that the club have backed us to carry on what we built last season. Myself and JJ work well together so I'm looking forward to what's to come. It will be good to get the fans that attended in numbers at the end of the season back at the Skyline Roofing Stadium when we return in July. Hopefully we can push Northwood forward."
Mark Chandler will continue in a coaching role along with goalkeeping coach Saj Vigneswaran and physiotherapist Gus Payne, while an assistant manager is expected to join the management team in due course.
Woods Chairman Ian Barry said: "Jack and Jon-Jo fully deserve this opportunity. They worked tirelessly to galvanise the squad at a time when our status at this level was very much in doubt. They kept the squad together and managed to get the very best out of the players we had and the playing group responded to them exceptionally well. We all look forward to working with them and wish them every success here."

John Byrne R.I.P.

The club are very sad to learn of the passing of John Byrne, and we send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
John, one of five brothers to play for Northwood, made his debut for the club as a 14-year-old in the 1951/52 season. He moved on from Northwood to join the Arsenal groundstaff, later playing for Hendon, Wealdstone and other clubs before rejoining the Woods in 1974.
After hanging up his boots, John regularly watched the Woods in company with brothers Pat and Paul, and he will be sadly missed by us all.
R.I.P. John.
