Gary Meakin is appointed the new Northwood manager
The Club is pleased to announce that our new Manager is Gary Meakin.
Gary, who was here back in 2011/12 in the same role, rejoins us after our extensive recruitment process, which although has taken a bit of time, we are sure we have made the right appointment to initially get us out of our current situation and then move us up the table. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge accrued over many years and we look forward to working with him.
During what has been a difficult period for the club, we sincerely thank those who have stepped in and helped immensely during the transition and worked tirelessly to make the situation far more professional, namely Steve Ringrose, Mark Chandler, Ryan Young and Kevin Lawrence.
Joining Gary are: Wes Daly (Assistant Manager), Nick Lacey (Goalkeeper Coach), Kwaku Agyemang (Sports Scientist), Graham Meakin (Kit Manager) and Mark Brennan (Player Liaison Officer), plus current coach Warren Gladdy
Gus Payne remains as the Club’s chief of the physiotherapy side of things working alongside Gary and his management team while Steve Ringrose continues as Director of Football.
We welcome the whole management team, and look forward to working with them and making the necessary progress.

First league win of the season for The Woods
It's been a tough start for the Woods in the Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central this season, but today they collected the points as they won 2-1 at Beaconsfield Town.
And it came despite the home side taking a first minute lead! Godlove Oppong lashed the ball home to level on 34 minutes and into first half stoppage time Ade Gbolahan also netted to give Northwood an interval advantage.
Beaconsfield made it a tough second period for the Woods but they held on to celebrate that victory! The match report and photos are here.

Northwood defeat Brentford B for first win since March
It’s been a long time coming, but the Woods earned their first victory since March this evening, and remarkably it was against Brentford’s B team at The Skyline Roofing Stadium in a first round Middlesex Senior Cup tie!
The Premier League club's side were given a shock when Godlove Oppong fired home from outside the box on nine minutes and just before the break Danny Vincent hit a 35-yard screamer for a two-goal interval lead.
Northwood looked under pressure when Brentford pulled a goal back and the pressure grew when Ade Gbolahan was red-carded. Soon after, the Bees were level and the tie looked to be going to a penalty shoot-out. But in the closing minutes, the Woods were awarded a spot-kick - which skipper Archie James calmly slotted home! The match report is here.
Northwood will play away to Rayners Lane in the quarter-final on Tuesday 5th November.

Northwood go down 0-2 away to Leighton Town
The Woods' poor run of Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central results continued this afternoon when they were defeated 0-2 away to Leighton Town.
The result leaves managerless Northwood still seeking their first victory of the season, with just one point so far. Leighton scored twice in the first half, and there proved to be no way back after the break, leaving the club really needing an injection of good fortune.
The match report and photos are here.
Northwood's home Middlesex Senior Cup tie against Brentford B will be played on Tuesday week, 15th October.

Next Tuesday's scheduled home Middlesex Senior Cup tie versus Brentford B has had to be rearranged, and a new date will be announced when agreed.

Northwood take a point as they draw with Leverstock Green
The Woods this afternoon got off the mark in their Pitching-In Southern League season as they drew 2-2 with Leverstock Green at The Skyline Roofing Stadium. With Director of Football Steve Ringrose overseeing the squad assisted by Ryan Young, Richard Elderfield and Mark Chandler, they produced a battling performance to display some real spirit in the ranks.
Gabriel Ipanga-Mbembo twice put Northwood ahead, on 59 and 68 minutes, only to see the visitors level on each occasion - but the point gained gives the club something to build upon, with another home game on Tuesday, against fellow-strugglers North Leigh!

Northwood go down to 1-5 defeat at Berkhamsted
The Woods had a difficult Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central task on their hands this evening when they played at Berkhamsted, who went into the game with a 100% league record.
Yet Scott Donnelly's side started well, and took an early lead from the penalty spot after Godlove Oppong had been brought down, skipper Archie James slotting the kick home. However, Berko levelled on 18th minutes and held a narrow 2-1 lead at the break. And the home side stepped up the pace after the break, eventually running out 5-1 winners.

Woods slump to late defeat after leading at Kings Langley
Northwood were leading 1-0 as the 88th minute approached at Kings Langley in this afternoon's Pitching-In Southern League game in Hertfordshire.
Skipper Archie James had put the Woods ahead early in the second half after debutant Ade Gjolahan had set him up. But then disaster struck with the Kings equalising just before the end of normal time - and then turned up the heat to score two more in stoppage time for a 3-1 result.
That late, late reverse means that Woods’ eight consecutive competitive defeats to start the campaign equals the record for a season set in 1961/62…when Northwood were relegated for the first time in the club’s history.

Northwood lose in FA Trophy at first hurdle
The Woods were in Isuzu FA Trophy action this afternoon, but for the third successive year were knocked out in the first round qualifying.
It was to the Kent coast that Northwood ventured today as they took on Isthmian League Division One South-East outfit Herne Bay, but slumped to a single goal reverse - and that makes it seven defeats in seven competitive fixtures this season - which is officially the worst start ever for Northwood as a senior club, dating back to 1970!
With their next fixture not scheduled for two weeks - Northwood now play at Kings Langley on Saturday 21st September - the club have the opportunity to consider how best to improve their fortunes.
