The Woods gave a good, battling performance in the first half of today's Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central game against Hadley, who were making their first-ever visit to The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

Scott Donnelly gave starting debuts to three players, with the returning Jack Smith named on the bench, and his side probably had the better of the chances in the opening period. However, a successfully converted Hadley penalty in the 46th minute was a real turning point, with the visitors netting a second goal near the end to confirm their victory - leaving Northwood still pointless after having played five league fixtures.

Northwood gave another battling display in this afternoon's Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central fixture at Welwyn Garden City - but Scott Donnelly's side are still looking for their first points of the campaign as they went down 1-3.

Welwyn held a single goal lead at the break, and on 63 minutes Bradley Clayton volleyed home the Woods' equaliser from a cross from Gabriel Ipanga-Mbambo. But two late goals won the points for the home side.

Two second half goals saw the Woods slip to Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central defeat this afternoon in the first of two fixtures over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Aylesbury United's Kamil Zielinksi scored both times at The Skyline Roofing Stadium to leave Northwood still looking for their first points of the season - with an opportunity to get off the mark at Welwyn Garden City on Monday afternoon.

Former Northwood youngster Femi Azeez has today joined Championship club Millwall on a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee from Reading.

Now 23, Femi impressed in the Woods’ Under 18s during 2017-18, and was rewarded by a dozen first team appearances towards the end of that season.

After moving to Wealdstone, he joined Reading in August 2019, making his first team debut in March 2021.

We wish Femi all the best as he pursues his career in South London.

Scott Donnelly is still waiting for Northwood's first victory under his charge, after they went down 2-1 at AFC Dunstable in Tuesday's Pitching-In Southern League Division One Central fixture.

Thomas Blennerhassett gave Dunstable a 22nd minute lead, and although Woods levelled with a good finish from Archie James eight minutes before the break, Blennerhassett's second on 65 minutes proved to be the match winner.

The defeat leaves Northwood as one of six clubs with zero points from two outings, whilst five outfits at the top of the table have won their two opening fixtures. The match report is here.

In contrast, the Under 18s made an incredible start to their competitive season tonight with a 10-0 victory in an FA Youth Cup tie at Wembley. Goalscorers were Keelan 3, Luke 2, Michael, Becaye, Freddie, Riley and an own goal. The match report is here.

The Pitching-In Southern League campaign got underway this afternoon for Northwood, but they were defeated 2-0 by Beaconsfield Town at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

Both clubs were under new management teams with new-look squads, but the visitors took the points, the first goal coming in first half stoppage time which deflated the Woods. The match photos and report are here.

Northwood club secretary Alan Evans has arranged for the now-blank Saturday 31st August FA Cup slot to be filled, and the Woods will play Hadley in a Southern League game at The Skyline Roofing Stadium on that date. The fixture was originally scheduled to be played in midweek in October.

The Woods are also seeking to fill Saturday week, 17th August - more news, hopefully, soon.

The Woods this afternoon went out of the Emirates FA Cup at the earliest stage ever, the extra preliminary round. Ashford Town Middx ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

Brad Sweeney scored both goals for Ashford, breaking the deadlock on 67 minutes then making the tie safe seven minutes into stoppage time.

The Pitching-In Southern League season gets underway next Saturday when Beaconsfield Town visit Northwood, so the management team will now be focusing on that.
