The Under 18s reached the semi-finals of the Isthmian Youth League Cup with a superb 4-2 victory at National League club Maidstone United.

After the long journey to Kent, the side started well and got their noses in front after 25 minutes when Ben Crowder sent over a good cross which the home defence failed to clear and Jeremy Kwaku-Scholz pounced to fire home. The Stones rallied well and managed to level just before the break when the ball ran loose in the box and there was a tidy finish.

But just ten minutes after the break, the Woods were back in front as Fabjan Toci’s free-kick was only parried by the keeper and Max Lousley was quickest to the loose ball for his first goal of the season.
Just four minutes later, Oscar John took great advantage of a defensive mistake and confidently drilled a shot past the keeper and only another four minutes had elapsed when John doubled his tally in similar fashion, making it 4-1.

It was enough to see the Woods safe and they made a number of substitutions before the home side did nab a late consolation goal but it was Northwood who are through to the semi-final for the first-ever time (two other quarter-finals was the previous best achievements).

Other teams still in the competition are Metropolitan Police, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Cray Valley Paper Mills, Three Bridges, Woking, East Grinstead and Lewes.
