The Woods fell at the first hurdle in the Middlesex Senior Youth Cup, losing by the odd goal in five to league rivals Hampton.

Having dominated the early stages, Northwood fell behind to a looping effort from the edge of the box following a half-cleared corner.

The side showed good battling spirit to get back into it when Fabjan Toci flicked in a left-wing cross and it remained 1-1 at half-time.

When Toci headed in a back-post free-kick early in the second half it seemed that the Woods were back in control, but the visitors had other ideas and were soon back on level terms with a scrambled effort.

It was fairly even as the second half progressed, but it was Hampton who bagged the winner as a shot came back off the post kindly for the same player to fire home.
