The Woods completed their Isthmian League away programme on the 3G pitch at Hayes & Yeading and it was a similar story of competing well for the first hour of the game but then fading away and conceding late goals.

In their nine away league games this season, they won just one – the very first one at Ashford Town (Middx) – and drew twice (at Wealdstone and Hampton) but the other six ended in defeat and in those they conceded 49 goals – eight per game.

The Hayes game saw a flurry of early goals and the Woods led the match twice. Without his strike partner Will Robinson, Oscar John led things well and scored in the very first minute, only for Hayes to level after five minutes.

Ahmed Baayou then made it 2-1 to Northwood with his first goal for the club, only for the home side to level again a minute later. 2-2 after just seven minutes of the match!

It was 3-2 to Hayes & Yeading at half-time but Oscar John notched his eleventh of the season soon after the restart and it was still game on at that stage.

Sadly, the Woods then conceded twice more before the hour mark and then conceded a further two goals in the last few minutes to make the score a flattering 7-3 to the home side.
