Northwood U18 2  Brentford Development XI 3

NORTHWOOD

The under 18’s hosted a Brentford development side in their third pre season friendly. The boys were really looking forward to the occasion against Premier League linked opposition and Woods couldn’t have got off to a better start, with Will Robinson being put through and slotting past the keeper to make it 1-0 after only three minutes.

The game ebbed and flowed for the remainder of the first half and Northwood were unfortunate to concede an equaliser just before the interval.

Both sides made changes for the second half and Brentford started better, taking the lead in the 50th minute with a fantastic finish into the top corner. The Woods continued to push forward searching for a second goal, but a quick breakaway down the left flank from Brentford and a low hard cross resulted in an own goal and our opponents' third goal.

With only ten minutes to go Northwood pushed forward and were rewarded with a great finish from outside the box by Josh Beckles. 3-2 with five minutes to go and cracks were beginning to appear in the Brentford defence, but the Woods just couldn’t get the third goal their performance deserved.

So,  narrow 2-3 defear, but the coaching staff were delighted overall with the display by the boys and the progress being made.
