Northwood found league leaders Hayes & Yeading United keeper and subsequent man of the match Tyler Wootton in excellent form in this game. The Woods applied pressure from the start but couldn't find the net due to the form of Wootton in the United goal. Hayes & Yeading started to get themselves into the game after about 10 minutes but also couldn't find the net due to poor finishing.

The Woods keeper Alex Deveraux also made some good saves in the first half to deny United top scorer Josh Odonwo and Jalon Rowe had a 25 yard free-kick on 35 minutes which just went the wrong side of the post with the Deveraux beaten.

On the cusp of half-time Northwood went ahead through Adam Wais who shot past Wootton to give the home side a deserved half time lead.

Northwood came out the stronger again at the start of the second half and should have doubled the lead on 49 minutes firing a free-kick across the box with no Woods player able to put their boot on it with the net vacant.

Hayes & Yeading found an equaliser on 75 minutes from a free-kick of their own. The ball was fed up high into the Northwood box only for Deveraux to drop it in front of Taofiq Olomowewe who gratefully fired into an empty net.

Northwood kept pushing on for a winner but found Wootton too good, especially when he kept out a fiercely hit drive from Woods substitute Jamie McKay, tipping the shot onto the bar.

Five minutes from time the visitors snatched all three points when another free-kick was pumped into the box, Deveraux got in a tangle with his defence allowing United skipper Ahmed Mohammed to round him and slot into an empty net from a tight angle.
