Bedfont Sports came to Chestnut Avenue on the back of several defeats but recent trials for new players bolstered by new signings gave them renewed hope of turning things around. With five players making debuts for them, they started brightly but it was Northwood who took the lead in the eleventh minute when Michael Elderfield nipped in to head home a long ball.

Bedfont had real pace up front but Woods' centre backs Alex Delasalle and Dave Palmer are now established, and with Eric Nyarko and Jamie McKay both playing well, Bedfont couldn't find a way through and Northwood reached half time 1-0 ahead.

The visitors came at Woods hard at the start of the second half, but the Northwood team have learned how to battle against stronger teams this season, and this quality helped keep Bedfont at bay. However, it has to be said they were unlucky on several occasions, and a couple of penalty shouts went in Woods' favour.

With all three substitutes having been used and with fifteen minutes to go, the home side were under the cosh, but from a corner Palmer headed against a post and Delasalle put the ball into the back of the net from close in. The game was effectively over and Northwood would go on to claim their fourth win in five games.

What a turnaraound the past twelve months has been, and it wouldn't be right to not say "well done" to Richard Elderfield & Dave Fox for their efforts in turning things around.

Next Thursday sees us back in cup action at Chestnut Avenue, so let's see if Woods can keep the run going when they face Walton & Hersham in the second round of the League Cup.
