Northwood put in a very workman like discipline performance to claim a 1-0 victory away at Oxford City.
The Woods were slow to get out of the blocks trying to play out from the back, often losing possession.
It was Northwood’s first attack on 13 minutes which was to claim the only goal of the game and a goal deserved of winning any game. A ball played down the left wing was picked up by Kevin Lema, and he turned and from outside the box hit a curling shot in the far corner.
Woods continued to press and nearly doubled their lead when Jonas Charles received the ball on the right hand side, drove at City's defence to hit a great strike, which smacked against the bar and rebounded to safety.
Into the second half there were few and far chances between the two teams, with the Woods limiting Oxford to long range shots which failed to trouble Will Norris in goal.
Northwood nearly killed the game off with five minutes to go when Stefan Khailat picked up the ball on the left side of the penalty box, skipped past the City right-back to drive the ball across goal but there was no one in a red shirt who had gambled to try and get on the end of it.
In the end Northwood ended the drought, keeping their first clean sheet of the season.
