This Thursday night trip to near-neighbours Oxhey Jets was the first-ever game between the two sides. Plenty of triallists were involved in the Northwood side, looking for a place in the final squad and Woods had Dan McNicholas, who made several appearances last season, in goal.

Northwood got off to a poor start when defensive errors allowed Oxhey to take an early lead with Tim O'Mara's fine finish but from then on they played much better. Max Holland’s solo run led to an equaliser before the break and then Rob Hastings was brought down in the box for a penalty which was put away by triallist Junior Finch.

Though Woods didn’t find any further goals, they looked more of a unit and were quite happy with the 2-1 victory.
