The Woods failed to pick up their first points of the season as a mistake-strewn performance saw them leak goals at FC Romania.

The home side out pressure on early and were rewarded when Sacha M’Baye stumbled in possession and was robbed by former Wood Samuel Oyeniran who hit a cool finish to give his side the lead.

Partington saved well from a Hurdubei short corner routine as the Woods tried to regain their composure.

Northwood worked to get back in the game and were rewarded with their first of the season with five minutes to go to half-time. Matt Cooper moved the ball forward and then Louis Bircham sent Harry Lodovica through on goal for him to finish cleanly into the top corner.

Sadly they had no time to build on that as just three minutes later Joshua Williams cut in from the right and then curled a neat strike inside the far post.

Like at the weekend, the response after the half-time break was disappointing, and after 58 minutes a loose ball some thirty yards out was crashed home with a swirling effort from Adrian Hurdubei.

It got worse seven minutes later when another break led to Rob Partington tripping a forward in the box and Gabriel Ghinea banged in the resulting penalty.

There was a rally from the Woods, especially when Kweku Lucan races onto a Bircham ball to reduce the arrears on 72 minutes.

The Wolves squandered a couple of opportunities on the break but when Lucan broke through again he put his shot the wrong side of the post and the chances of a late comeback were over.
