High-flying Bracknell Town kept Northwood quiet in what was a routine 3-0 win for the second-placed side. Goals from Joe Grant, Liam Ferdinand and Jordan Brown saw the visitors walk to a comfortable win.
With only two efforts on target, it was another frustrating performance from the Woods. Manager Scott Dash made a handful of changes from last week’s game, with Rob Partington making his debut in goal.
Northwood got off to a fast start and in the first minute, they had their first effort on target, a 20-yard shot from Yahya El-Khabouche well held by the visiting side’s goalkeeper Mark Scott.
Debutant Partington was kept the busier keeper, and in the ninth minute he raced off his line to smother a sharp attack by the Robins.
Partington was once again called into action, this time diving to his right to get a vital touch on a certain goal, preventing Bracknell’s Ferdinand from scoring.
It would prove to be a very busy afternoon for Partington, and soon he was there again to avert danger, this time punching the ball to safety after a pass back lead to Bracknell being awarded a free-kick from just past the penalty spot.
Unfortunately, Partington could not hold on to his clean sheet for much longer. In the 40th minute defender Imran Uche failed to head clear and inadvertently put Bracknell’s Joe Grant in on goal, who calmly lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper.
Into the second half, and it did not take long for the visiting side to get on to the score-sheet again. Ferdinand eventually got the goal he was deserving, when a low driven shot from his left boot evaded Partington and found the bottom right-corner of the net.
Recently subbed on Kyran Worrell looked to inject a bit of fight into the Woods side; he received the ball just outside the box, and did well to dribble past two Bracknell defenders but his shot was subsequently blocked.
Worrell was again involved in another Northwood attack, this time combining well with Alex Witham, but his half-volley strike blazed over the bar.
Bracknell Town threw away two massive opportunities to make it 3-0, the first coming from Harrison Bayley, whose header went over the bar from two yards out. The second fell to Kensley Maloney, but his chip did not have enough power and Dan Newton was there to clear the ball off the line.
The missed chances did not worry the visitors, and into added time Brown’s strike made it 3-0 to Bracknell.
