BLITZ BEATS THE CHAMPS
NORTHWOOD 3 BEDFONT 1
If only Northwood's second half blitz against Bedfont had come a week earlier it might have been the Woods sitting pretty as Middlesex League champions instead of Bedfont.
This game, played at Harefield United’s Preston Park, between champions-elect Bedfont and runners up Northwood may have left a lot to be desired in terms of football, but there was no arguing with the fact that the Woods took the honours on the night.
However, it was Bedfont who took a first half lead when indecision in the Northwood defence let Jones in to beat Currell. It took a half-time talking to by manager Paddy Coburn to get Northwood moving and how they responded in the second half!
Northwood were soon level when Livingstone scored from a superb Martin Ellis through ball.
It was Ellis again who lost his marker and squared back for Robin Tidd to net the second goal.
At the other end Currell had to make several good saves to keep the Woods in the lead, but the result was put beyond doubt when Heslop nodded in a Harvey cross.
Northwood: Currell, Heslop, Mills, Gould, Merison, Tidd, Harvey, Manley, Livingstone, Cooper, Ellis. Sub. Roberts.
