Saturday 28th October 1967
NORTHWOOD STILL UNBEATEN
NORTHWOOD 6  IVANHOE ATHLETIC 1

Northwood retained their 100 per cent league record on Saturday, playing extremely fluent football despite appalling conditions for this Harrow & Wembley League game.

It was no surprise when Godley ran onto his goalkeeper’s clearance for the first goal, and then ten minutes later Byrne found himself clear, and the goalkeeper failed to hold his shot.

Several more chances were created by the slick Northwood attack, and they should have turned round more than two goals in front.

In the second half Ivanhoe reduced the lead, and for a time pressed strongly for an equaliser. It was not until ten minutes from time that Godley was brought down, and Kaufman scored from the spot.

This goal put Northwood back on top, and first Parker scored with a superb drive from 25 yards. Godley hit home number five, and in the last seconds Byrne scored with a diving header following Gould’s neat chip.

Skipper Jackman was dominant in defence.

Other results; Northwood Res. 6 (Russell 2, Brownlow, Swallow 2, Perry) Brentfield Park 2; Northwood A 7 (Whitney, Blair 2, Hardy 2, Musgrove, Neighbour) Tokyngton A 1.

Northwood: R. Byrne, D. Byrne, J. Saunders, G. Harding, L. Kaufman, D. Jackman, B. Gould,  D. Godley, D.P. Byrne, J. Parker, B. Rogers.
