Willy joined Woods in the summer 1971 and looked a great prospect after scoring six times in five pre-season fixtures. However, Middlesex League matches proved more difficult and he moved on having lost his place after just a few games.

Willy later emigrated to Australia, and after returning to England was assistant manager at Yeading and then Hayes, where he subsequently became manager. He then was assistant boss at Cambridge United before spells scouting for AFC Bournemouth and QPR.
