Adam progressed through the club's youth ranks, having joined in 1989, to make his first team debut in November 1998, aged 18. As a youngster he was a member of Northwood sides which won the Middlesex County Cup, the Allied Counties Youth League and League Cup, before captaining the reserves in the Suburban League.
