The Woods had a break from the rigours of the League scheduled with this opportunity to reach the Final of the Middlesex Charity Cup in a strange season for the competition when just five team entered.
They were up against Combined Counties League title-contenders Broadfields, who had won the Charity Cup twice in the last three seasons and had been beaten in the Senior Cup Final by Southall just a week earlier. There was a debut in goal for young goalkeeper Dani Cruz, Stephane Bombalenga was back from injury issues, Harry McKenna was recalled and there was a first start for Mohamed Ali up front.
There was a slow start to the game with neither side getting much of a grip and an Alie Bangura chip over the bar on 23 minutes was the first effort on goal. Just four minutes later the visitors were in front with a cut-back picking out one-time Woods midfielder Gabriel Piorkowski and he slotted them in front.
The Woods were a little under siege from Broadfields when changes were made on 37 minutes as Solomon Alidor-Hamilton and Arel Amu replaced McKenna and Bombelenga but six minutes later there was a second goal for the Fighting Cocks when Abdi Sharif Mohamed finished neatly.
Cruz was brought into action almost immediately after the restart with a good save from a David Levy strike but on 50 minutes, the Woods raised hopes of a recovery when Alidor-Hamilton rose at the near-post to head home a Mack Miskin corner.
Sadly, the goal failed to revive fortunes for Northwood. Cruz was called into action again as the visitors broke quickly and there was a debut for substitute Mohammed Diaby but the nearest the Woods came to an equaliser was on 75 minutes when Arel Amu played a good ball through to Bangura but the keeper was out quickly to block his effort.
Broadfields move into the May Final against Uxbridge who defeated Hanwell Town in the other semi final contest.
