Barton Rovers were visitors to the Skyline Roofing Stadium on a rare sunny afternoon and with the Woods’ hopes of avoiding relegation disappearing fast. There were debuts for experienced attacker Tahjae Anderson and midfielder Seth Patrick, the latest arrivals from Chertsey Town and Hanwell Town respectively and there was a second appearance in goal for young keeper Kai Mussilhy.
Northwood started the match well with a long-throw from Hamid Seisay
causing some issues but Gabe Cuthbert sliced his shot and goalkeeper Matt Boylan was able to take easily. Then Anderson’s run down the left saw him put his cross into a good area but Freddie Ford wasn’t able to get a shot off.
Yet, on thirteen minutes, Barton Rovers grabbed the lead with their first attack as a cut back from the right flank picked out Alfie Warman and he tucked it home.
The Woods regrouped and played some good football during the remainder of the first-half. Anderson was twice denied by Boylan in quick succession and then Patrick fired over after a short corner from Alie Bangura.
Boylan punched clear a Freddie Ford free-kick on 32 minutes but it was an error from Woods ‘keeper Mussilhy which gifted Rovers a second goal two minutes later as some unsafe handling allowed Rawn Seale to head home.
It gave Northwood a mountain to climb after the break but again they set about things quickly which good approach work from Bangura and Arel Amu which was just lacking a final ball. After 52 minutes Gabe Cuthbert forced Boylan into a good save with a fierce strike from distance and two minutes later Ford jinked through three separate challenges but eventually saw his shot blocked.

Hamza Miezou replaced Amu on 58 minutes for another debut and three minutes later Northwood finally got the goal their performance had been threatening when Hamid Seisay scored with a crisp strike from the edge of the box.
As the Woods began to look for a leveller, they were dealt a crushing blow on 70 minutes when Warman bagged his second of the game, allowed too much space around the edge of the box and beating the dive of Mussilhy. Another debut followed with MK Dons youngster Phoenix Scholtz replacing Anderson but Barton then grabbed a fourth when a penalty was awarded and top scorer Albie Hall was able to convert.
There could be no doubting the spirit of the home side though as Seisay grabbed his second of the game after 81 minutes when neatly heading home a corner but that looked likely to be it until Rovers grabbed a fifth in stoppage-time as Murphy Culkin went straight in from a corner.
