Woods go out of the FA Youth Cup

Northwood’s Under 18s were in FA Youth Cup action this evening at The Skyline Roofing Stadium, and they took an early lead through top scorer Fabjan Toci against Langley in a second qualifying round tie.

However, Langley levelled on the stroke of half-time, and netted twice in the second period to progress to the next round.

So it was the end of the road for Ryan Young’s Woods youngsters, but they had a decent run in the competition, knocking out Uxbridge and Hemel Hempstead in previous rounds.

Northwood go down to first league defeat

The Woods slipped to their first Pitching In Isthmian League South Central defeat of the season     this evening, after six successive victories, going down 1-2 away to another in-form side in newly-promoted Walton & Hersham.

Northwood took the lead on 38 minutes when Sydney Ibie fired home a penalty after he himself had been brought down. But two goals in six minutes midway through the second half clinched the points for the home side.

Northwood keep that winning run going to stay on top

The Woods made it six Pitching-In Isthmian League wins out of six this afternoon when they consolidated their position at the top of the table with a deserved 2-1 win over Sutton Common Rovers.

Northwood took an early lead courtesy of visiting defender Bertie Lloyd, who sent a cross from player-coach Andy Lomas past his own keeper, former Woods number one, Daniel Purdue. Josh Helmore increased the home side's lead on 18 minutes, but despite a strong display there were no more goals for Ben Bukowski's side. With five minutes left Sutton grabbed a goal to make it a nervous finale for Woods - but they held on to claim the victory.

Pat Byrne Stand is officially opened

Prior to the game against Chertsey Town we were delighted to welcome the MP for Ruislip, Northwood & Pinner, David Simmonds CBE who, alongside Councillor Henry Higgins, performed the opening ceremony for the new Pat Byrne Memorial Stand.

The covered accommodation has been positioned in an area that Pat used to say was his favourite viewing position in the ground and was purchased with funds received at our former Life President’s memorial match which took place last October at Northwood and involved two sides of ex-club legends and players from the past, plus family members. One new signing, one returnee for the Woods

Two new signings – well, one new, one returning, to bring you…

The returnee is Micah Jackson, who came back to the Woods in time to play in last Saturday’s game against Chertsey Town. He made a great impact when he joined the club last November along with the new management team and had scored seven goals in just thirteen appearances. However, he surprisingly moved on to try to help Chalfont St Peter avoid relegation. Micah moved on to play for newly-promoted Southern League Central side Walthamstow this season but only made a couple of substitute appearances before making the return to the Woods fold.

The new man is forward Jake Tabor, aged 19, who moved up from Harpenden Town of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier, where he has already scored four goals this season. Previously, he was prolific with Oxhey Jets, and also turned out for Crawley Green and for Berkhamsted.

Welcome both players to the club!!

100% record is maintained as Chertsey Town are beaten 3-1

The Woods maintained their 100% League record at the top of the table with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over previously undefeated Chertsey Town who were defeated in last season's play-off final at the Skyline Roofing Stadium this afternoon.

Josh Helmore gave Northwood lead inside the first minute, and Sydney Ibie increased their lead from the penalty spot on 40 minutes. Chertsey came back strongly after the break and pulled a goal back. They pushed right to the end, but when the visitors' keeper was stranded upfield, Ibie clinched the points when he drove into an empty net.
