Woods keep winning run going as Southall are defeated
Northwood maintained their 100% start to the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central season this Bank Holiday Monday, when a goal in each half was enough to defeat newly-promoted Southall at The Skyline Roofing Stadium, in front of a decent crowd of 228.
Southall proved tough opponents, but Josh Helmore put the home side ahead a few minutes before the interval. The visitors had their best spell at the start of the second period, without actually troubling Andrew McCorkell in goal, and Luke Tingey's thumping header on 74 minutes made sure the points were staying with the Woods.
The game marked the first time since 2015 that Northwood have won their opening four league outings!

Northwood lead the table after winning at Westfield
It's very early days, but it has been a long time since Northwood topped the league table - and that is what they do following this afternoon's 3-1 Pitching-In Isthmian League South Central victory at previously unbeaten Westfield!
The Surrey outfit had made a great start to the season, winning both opening league fixtures by a 4-0 margin, as well as progressing through two rounds of the FA Cup, and they took an early lead today. But the Woods roared back, with Ronan Hutchins equalising and then Sydney Ibie converted from the penalty spot before skipper Keagan Cole made it 3-1 just on the stroke on half-time.

The draws are out for various cup competitions in which the Woods will take part this season.
The club have a bye in the first round of the Velocity League Cup, and will make the trip to Walton & Hersham in the second round, expected to be played in mid-October; that will be the first meeting between the clubs since 2005.
In contrast, Northwood will chalk up five games against Ashford Town this season, following the release of the Middlesex Senior Cup draw, which sees the outfit from the south of the county visit The Skyline Roofing Stadium on Tuesday 11th October for a first round tie.
Woods were given a bye in the first round of the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup.

Northwood disappointingly went out of this season's Emirates FA Cup competition in a preliminary round replay this evening, when Ashford Town Mx ran out 3-1 winners at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.
The fellow Middlesex visitors from the south of the county led by Lewis Flatman's goal at the interval, and they took a 3-0 advantage by the 70th minute. Sydney Ibie raised Woods' hopes with 13 minutes remaining when he netted following Carl Stewart's pass, but it wasn't to be, and Ashford progress to the next round, where they will play Westfield.

There will be a replay at The Skyline Roofing Stadium on Tuesday evening after today's Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round tie ended in a 2-2 draw at fellow Pitching-In Isthmian League South Central outfit Ashford Town.
The home side opened the scoring through Lewis Flatman on 14 minutes, and Ashford held their advantage through to the break. But Josh Helmore levelled for the Woods within three minutes of the restart, then Sydney Ibie netted in the 80th minute to go his side hopes of progressing to the next round - Ashford had other ideas, though, and David Pitt made it 2-2 four minutes later.
There was no further scoring, so it's back to Northwood on Tuesday! The match report and photos are here.

The Woods went second in the table in the nascent Pitching-In Isthmian League South Central season this evening, with a 1-0 victory away to Bedfont Sports.
The only goal of the game came on 21 minutes when Sports' defender Joseph Morrison got the final touch. It was a scrappy encounter on the wet artificial surface, but Northwood defended well when they needed to and merited the three points they took home.

Northwood’s Pitching In Isthmian League South Central season got underway this afternoon in fine style despite the blistering heat, as they defeated Tooting & Mitcham United 3-2 at the Skyline Roofing Stadium.
The Woods were shocked to go behind early in the game, before Sydney Ibie equalised midway through the opening half. And the tall striker put the home side ahead from the penalty spot on 42 minutes.
But the South London side were a good, determined outfit and levelled a few minutes into the second period. Northwood replied almost immediately when following a good run and cross from Brandon Kalu, the ball was headed home by Ronan Hutchins, to regain the lead. The closing stages were very tense, not helped by 10 minutes added time despite the heat, but Ben Bukowski's team held on to take the three points!

Northwood moved into the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup this afternoon as they edged out League rivals South Park Reigate 2-1 at Northwood Park Stadium.
The Woods went ahead on 17 minutes when Man of the Match Sydney Ibie's great run and cross set up Josh Helmore to flick the ball into the net, and though the visitors levelled ten minutes later, Ronan Hutchins fired home what proved to be the winner on the stroke of half-time.
It's a trip to Ashford Town in the next round of the competition; Woods' Isthmian counterparts won 8-0 at Saltdean United today. The Robin Piper's match report and photos by James Brown are here. Ben Bukowski’s squad went down 0-3 in their final pre-season friendly this evening away to Brentwood of the Pitching-In Isthmian League North, ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round tie against South Park at Northwood Park which gets the competitive season underway.
Brentwood led by a single goal at the interval, but some defensive errors resulted in two more scores for the home side in the second half. It was, however, a very useful workout for the Woods and more minutes in the tank for the squad before it all starts for real. Match details are here.
