Hanwell Town are beaten 4-1 in friendly

Northwood's only home pre-season friendly turned out very well, as the Woods beat old rivals Hanwell Town, just promoted, 4-1, this afternoon.

The Woods led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Andy Lomas and Josh Helmore, and although Hanwell pulled one back, Helmore shot home his second of the game, before Lindell Stewart added the fourth just before the end, to round off an excellent work-out for Northwood ahead of next weekend's competitive start to the campaign.

Match details together with James Brown's photos are here.

Ryan Young's Under 18s won 5-4 in a friendly at Rayners Lane, with goals from Alexander Grant 2, Tom Roach, Jeremy Kwaku-Scholz and Joe Reade.

Sydney Ibie is match winner against New Salamis

The Woods played New Salamis FC for the first time this evening, in a friendly played at the Middlesex FA headquarters, Rectory Park.

New Salamis were champions of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division last season, gaining promotion to the Pitching-In Isthmian League North as a result. They proved to be a tough test for Northwood, with Sydney Ibie powering home what proved to be the winning goal on 65 minutes. Other highlights included Ronan Hutchins hitting the woodwork, whilst the New Salamis keeper made a fine save from Keagan Cole's penalty.

We are grateful to New Salamis for stepping in after Harpenden advised that they had insufficient players for our scheduled fixture. Match details.

Two-goal Sydney Ibie in friendly win at Hertford

Two first half goals from Sydney Ibie were enough for the Woods to win 2-1 in their pre-season friendly this afternoon at Hertford Town, members of Southern League Division One Central.

Sydney's opener came on five minutes when a long ball put him through and he chipped it over the keeper then followed in to tap home. And good ball from Keagan Cole found Ibie on 17 minutes, and the striker finished coolly for his second. Hertford pulled a goal back shortly before half-time - and that was the end of the scoring. James Brown's match photos are here.

Northwood also played a rearranged pre-season friendly against Broadfields United on Thursday evening behind closed doors, and won 3-1 with two goals from a triallist and a penalty from Sydney Ibie.

Harry and Riccardo sign in at Northwood

Ben Bukowski and Steve Ringrose continue to add to their squad options ahead of the new campaign, with Harry Gallagher and Riccardo Alexander Greenway signing on the dotted line for the Woods.

Starting his non-League career in February, Harry has impressed in a defensive role at Broadfields United. He trained with the Woods during the latter stages of last season and, has continued to impress.

And Riccardo Alexander Greenway has also joined the club, having played one game for us last season on a dual registration basis, so we are delighted to have Ric on board for the 2022-23 season. He also played at Hendon and Barking last term, and the centre midfielder will bring quality and energy to the Northwood side.

Northwood have very useful workout against Chesham

The Woods took on Chesham United of the Southern League Premier Division South as they played their first pre-season friendly in a game which was staged at Rayners Lane's ground.
