August Man of the Month award is presented

You may recall that the Woods’ Director of Football Steve Ringrose and Head Coach Ben Bukowski were jointly named Manager of the Month for August in Pitching-In Isthmian League South Central, sponsored by Vita Risk Solutions.

On Saturday, Steve and Ben were belatedly presented with the award by League Chairman Nick Robinson – so congratulations again to our management duo!

Woods are held to a home draw by Chipstead

Northwood retained a clear five points lead at the head of Pitching In Isthmian League South Central following this afternoon's goalless draw against Chipstead at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

With a number of players missing, it wasn't the best Woods performance in recent weeks, and a battling Chipstead outfit made it very difficult. Jake Tabor went closest for Northwood when his header following a corner struck the bar, though it took last minute heroics from man of the match Brandon Kalu to prevent a late winner for the visitors.

But Northwood did maintain their record of never in their history having lost on 29th October! That's 12 wins and four draws from 16 fixtures since 1926.

Please support the players' Trivia Night on Saturday

Following this Saturday’s fixture versus Chipstead at the Skyline Roofing Stadium, the first team squad are hosting a Trivia Night, so please stay after the game for a test of your knowledge, and there may also be Richard Elderfield’s rock and roll bingo!

The event is a fundraiser for an overnight stay prior to our game against Guernsey on 19th November, so an important part of the players’ pre-match preparations.

The cost is £10 per person, maximum of six in a team – prizes for the winners and runners-up! The fun starts at 6.00 p.m.

Thatcham are beaten 2-0 as Woods maintain lead at the top

A goal in each half was enough to secure the three Pitching In Isthmian League South Central points for Northwood against Thatcham Town at The Skyline Roofing Stadium this afternoon.

On Pete Barry Day, as we remembered the father of Chairman Ian, the Woods paid their own tribute to a real football man with a comfortable victory which maintained their 100% home league record, and their seven points lead at the top of the table. Ergys Pepaj opened the scoring on 29 minutes, with Josh Helmore adding the second in the 71st minute.

A late goal saw the Woods go out of the Velocity Isthmian League Cup away to Walton & Hersham this evening. There were a few changes to the Northwood side from Saturday's outing, but the Surrey club will now play at home to Southall in the second round of the competition.

The match report is here.

In further cup news, the Woods have been drawn away to league rivals Hanworth Villa in the second round of the Middlesex Senior Cup. The tie is due to be played on Tuesday 8th November.

Single goal sees Northwood win at Basingstoke

The Woods extended their lead at the top of the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central table to seven points this afternoon when they came away from Basingstoke Town with a 1-0 victory.

The crucial goal came early in the second half when Jake Tabor was upended in the box, and Sydney Ibie stepped up to send the home keeper the wrong way and net the spot-kick.

Juwon's goal clinches Middlesex Senior Cup tie against Ashford

Juwon Akintunde netted his first goal for Northwood, and it was the only score of Woods' Middlesex Senior Cup first round tie against Ashford Town at The Skyline Roofing Stadium this evening.

Northwood gave a good performance as they defeated Ashford for the first time in four attempts this season, enabling the club to progress to the last 16 of the competition. The game saw the debut from the bench of 16-year-old youth team skipper Joe Reade - congratulations to him!

Northwood come from behind to defeat Merstham

The Woods weren't on top form for much of this afternoon's Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture against Merstham at The Skyline Roofing Stadium, but they showed real resilience to recover from an interval deficit to run out 3-2 winners.

Micah Jackson scored direct from a corner in the 15th minute, but Merstham belied their league placing to hit back twice to lead at the break.

The second period saw a much improved Northwood performance, and that man Sydney Ibie once again won and scored a penalty on 58 minutes. Two minutes later Jake Tabor made it 3-2 on his starting debut - and despite one or two close calls, the Woods held on to cement their place at the top of the table.

Woods play seven-goal friendly, Under 18s hit six

Ben and Steve yesterday evening took the squad to play a friendly against National League Hampton & Richmond Borough, going down 3-4 in a game which was played on Bedfont Sports’ 3G pitch.

Recent signing Jake Tabor netted in the first half, with Rahim Jude-Boyd and Micah Jackson (penalty) scoring after the break in what was a very useful work-out for the Woods.

Tonight Ryan Young’s Under 18’s were in fine form, winning an Isthmian Youth League fixture, also against Hampton & Richmond Borough, 6-1 at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

A great result for the young Woods, for whom Oscar John, Fabjan Toci, London Latifi (2), Calvin White and Ben Crowder scored.

Northwood are defeated 2-1 away to Ashford Town

The Woods went down to their narrow Pitching In Isthmian League South Central defeat of the week this afternoon when they lost 2-1 away to Middlesex rivals Ashford Town.

The home side took an early lead before Northwood top scorer Sydney Ibie levelled from the penalty spot. But Ashford were awarded their own spot-kick midway through the second half, and the successful conversion of that was sufficient to condemn Woods to defeat. They stay top of the table, but will be looking to get back to winning ways next Saturday when Merstham visit the Skyline Roofing Stadium.

The match report and photos are here.
