The Woods Under 18s started their Allied Counties Youth League campaign at Hillingdon Borough and made it a successful opening game with an emphatic 5-1 victory.
After the home side had started quickly, Northwood grabbed an eighth minute lead when Sarin Thapa flicked in a cross at the near-post. They then took control of the game when Alex Grant took advantage of a defensive error. Jeremy Scholz scored a superb third, exchanging passes with Thapa and Tom Reid before burying a shot past the keeper to make it 3-0 at the break.
After the interval, Thapa notched his second of the game within a few minutes and although the match hit a bit of a lull with substitutions made from both sides, the Woods bagged a fifth late on with a cracking strike from substitute Jamie Dwyer.
The only downside came in stoppage-time as Hillingdon spoiled the clean sheet with a consolation goal and then Harrison Clemow picked up a second yellow card so was dismissed to leave the Woods with ten men.
