Blank Saturday for Northwood - back in action on Monday

There is no Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture for Northwood this afternoon, as in the 21-club division it is our turn to miss out.

With our tenants Spartans playing away, there will be no football at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

But the Woods will be back in action on Easter Monday, with an away game against play-offs chasing Southall!

The weather strikes the Woods once again

Tonight's Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture away to Binfield was once again postponed following prolonged heavy rain. The pitch had earlier been passed fit, and so the Woods travelled to the game, but it was called off by the match referee.

The fixture will now be played on Thursday next week, 4th April, kick-off 7.45 p.m.

Some good news: a goal from Alex Grant enabled Northwood Under 18s to make further progress in the Allied Counties League Cup last night with a 1-0 win at Thatcham Town; they will play Binfield at home in the quarter-final next Wednesday, 3rd April.

Woods keep goals coming with 3-0 win against Hartley Wintney

After scoring six in midweek, Northwood kept on the goal trail this afternoon at The Skyline Roofing Stadium, when we defeated Hartley Wintney 3-0 in a Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture.

It was revenge for a heavy defeat in Hampshire earlier in the season, although despite plenty of promising attacking play, it took until just before half-time before Kofi Anokye-Boadi put the Woods ahead. The other goals arrived late in the game, Dan Williams hitting a crisp shot after Lucas Sinclair set him up, then Carl Stewart fired home a penalty, debutant substitute Denzel Effah having been fouled.

The match report and photos are here. Sam Bristow's video of the two second half goals is here.

Northwood hit Badshot Lea for revenge six

The Woods gained swift revenge for Saturday’s 4-0 Pitching In Isthmian League South Central defeat at Badshot Lea with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over the same opposition just three days later, running in six goals for the second time in three weeks.

Kofi-Anokye Boadi opened the scoring in the 21st minute, then Lucas Sinclair added two more for Northwood to hold a three-goal advantage at the break. And the goal machine didn't stop there, grabbing two more in the second half, when Dan Williams also got on the scoresheet. Lucas became the first Northwood player to score four goals in two games in the same season - congratulations to him!!

Northwood go down heavily to Badshot Lea

The Woods crashed to a 0-4 Pitching In Isthmian League South Central action defeat this afternoon, when we made our first-ever visit to Badshot Lea.

After an even first half during which Northwood had good chances to take the lead, Badshot opened the scoring early in the second half, adding a couple more before wrapping up the win with a fourth goal in stoppage time. Northwood have the opportunity for a speedy response when they face the same opponents at The Skyline Roofing Stadium on Tuesday evening.

David Gahan R.I.P.

The club was very sad to learn of the passing at the Peace Hospice on 5 March 2024 of long-term Northwood supporter David Gahan, having lost his 12 month battle with cancer. He was 65 years old. Dave was a home and away supporter of the Woods for some decades and a season ticket holder.

David's sister, Neila, told us: "He loved his Northwood Football Club, spending season upon season planning holidays and breaks around the fixtures, or including them, and had been most frustrated this year being too unwell to attend any games."

David’s funeral is being held on Monday 25th March at 2.00 p.m. at West Herts Crematorium, High Elms Lane, Watford, WD25 0JS, and afterwards refreshments will be at the Fox and Hounds pub in New Road, Croxley Green.

R.I.P. David.

Battling Woods take a point at leaders Chertsey

Northwood gave a battling performance this afternoon in our Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture away to Chertsey Town.

League leaders Chertsey went into the game holding an eight-points advantage at the top, but they couldn't find a way through against Ben Bukowski's side. Both sides had opportunities to win the game, but the Woods will be happy with the point gained.

Bogey side Hanworth Villa take the points with 3-2 victory

Northwood just failed to claim a Pitching In Isthmian League South Central point at The Skyline Roofing Stadium this evening, when they went down 2-3 to Hanworth Villa.

The Woods took a 18th minute lead when Kofi Anokye-Boadi netted his seventh goal of the season, only for Villa to level a few minutes later. The visitors scored two more soon after the hour-mark, but soon after they had skipper George Wells dismissed. Northwood's hopes were raised when Lucas Sinclair shot home his eighth goal in nine appearances, but the Villains managed to hold on for the points.
