Lucas joins Woods' 50-year top scorers chart

On Tuesday, Lucas Sinclair's four-goal haul was the first for Northwood since April 2003 when Chris Moore scored five times against Arlesey Town. The only other player to score four in a League game since our 1992 promotion to the Isthmian League was Vic Schwartz in 1993.

But both of those previous achievements were in home games, so Lucas is the first to get four in any Woods League game away from home since Gary Cooper's five at North Greenford in a Middlesex League fixture way back in August 1975; not far off fifty years ago!

Other players to score four (or five) for Northwood since we became a senior club in 1970 are: Eddie Coppinger, Warren Patmore, Dave Nolan, Tim Vincent, Nigel Franklin, Martin Ellis (twice), Harry Stone, Murray Amory, Barry Wanless (twice), Steve Senior and Dave Horsford.

Northwood share the points away to Sutton Common Rovers

It took a penalty six minutes into stoppage time to earn the Woods a deserved share of the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central spoils this afternoon when we drew 2-2 away to Sutton Common Rovers.

Teddy Stacey gave Northwood the lead early in the second half with an effort from out wide after Lucas Sinclair had been the provider. But two soft goals gave the Surrey side the advantage. Then well into added time, Sinclair was brought down in the box, and cool Harry Gallagher thrashed the ball home to earn his side a point.

Young keeper Roraigh Browne returns to Watford

After three months of an excellent loan spell here at Northwood FC, 18 year old Watford Academy goalkeeper Roraigh Browne has returned to his parent club.

Roraigh arrived in late October as a replacement for crowd favourite Andrew McCorkell after his departure to Uxbridge, making his debut in a 2-0 defeat away at Thatcham Town. He came highly recommended by Watford FC's goalkeeping coach Gary Phillips and quickly impressed, saving a crucial penalty to win a midweek County Cup game at Southall and then a first away win of the season at Chipstead the following weekend. The South-Africa born shot-stopper played 15 matches during his loan spell and he earned two Man of the Match awards, in home wins over Guernsey and Uxbridge.

Manager Ben Bukowski stated “It has been an absolute privilege to play a part in Roraigh's career. He has grown both on and off the pitch in the short time he has spent with us. A top player with so much passion and dedication to his work, I am sure he is one we need to keep an eye on for the future. I can’t thank him enough for his commitment and efforts during his time at the club, I wish him all the best in the future."

The Club would like to thank all at Watford FC involved in the deal especially Gary Phillips, Head of Academy Jon Goodman and Michael Cook for his work with all the paperwork. We wish Roraigh every success in the future.

Manager Ben Bukowski brings two signings into his squad

Woods boss Ben Bukowski added two further signings earlier in the week to bolster his squad ahead of the final 16 games of the campaign, with Adam Laaref and Stephan Langley joining the club.

Winger Adam Laaref came on dual registration deal from Hendon, having been part of the promotion winning Hanwell Town side of 2021-22, when he made twenty six appearances and scored three goals, and he has also played for North Greenford United and Hartley Wintney.

Stephan Langley, a central defender, signed for Northwood from Bedfont Sports, having previously played at Guildford City, where he was a virtual ever-present last season. He has also played at Westfield, and as a youth was part of the Hampton & Richmond Borough academy.
