This was Northwood reserves’ first game in a month, indeed the first game of 2011, and to be fair they more than matched our opponents.
The game ebbed and flowed, but there were no real opportunities in the first twenty minutes, however if I'm honest, Eastleigh had slightly more possession. That could have all changed as Desagurante had a great opportunity to put Woods one up, but the ball hit the side-netting.
Sharples and Williamson started to control midfield and Northwood’s passing became a lot crisper. Just before half time Sonuga had great chance from a corner but headed over, and 0-0 at half time was a fair reflection of the game.
The match changed within the first ten minutes of second half, when Eastleigh scored twice.
The team did exceptionally well to regain their composure, and created a a few chances, but Woods just could not get the all important goal that could have got them back in the game.
Jordan Gutteridge had a fine debut at the back, but I was pleased with the whole squad. We didn’t get a result we were hoping for, but the performance was promising.
