The reserves bounced back from their recent run of four defeat and no goals scored with a narrow 3-2 win over Biggleswade United, having had to come from going behind in the first-half.
Things were going okay when Tom Pegrum slipped a good ball through for Jamie McKay to slot home the opening goal after 20 minutes but the Woods were unable to hold onto that advantage as the visitors netted twice in swift succession.
Each time the ball was played through a static defence and Biggleswade were suddenly 2-1 up with the half-time break approaching.
But thankfully, Northwood battled through to the whistle with Ryan Lee and Karim Aissaoui controlling the midfield and when Liam Fox and Pegrum combined down the left, the cross was knocked in by Michael Elderfield to make it all-square at 2-2.
The Woods dominated much of the second period but they missed several half-chances before finally getting their noses in front on 70 minutes. Having brought on Scott Gilzean and Adam Wais as fresh legs, they attacked hard and when the visiting ‘keeper dropped a Fox cross, defender Eric Nyarko was quickest to knock in the loose ball and make it 3-2.
Next Saturday the side have a big task as they play at home to Leverstock Green in the second leg of their Suburban League Cup game, with a 0-3 deficit to overcome. And on Tuesday week they are away at Edgware Town in the Middlesex Premier Cup.
