Northwood breezed through to the quarter-finals of the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup with a resounding win over near neighbours Harefield United.

There were a number of changes to both teams, with Woods giving debuts to a couple of Farnborough loanees, right-back Jonathan Moanda and youngster Imran Uche in central defence. Kweku Lucan, Keiran Asumadu-Sakyi and Miguel Matos returned to the starting line-up as interim manager Scott Dash took the opportunity to utilise his squad.

Northwood dominated the opening half-hour, with Chris Gosling, Kweku Lucan, Ben Pattie and Matos all spurning chances to open the scoring. But Woods finally took the lead on 39 minutes as Pattie fired a shot into the far corner of the Hares’ net.

The visitors had offered little in the way of attacking threat until Joe Clifton drew a comfortable save from keeper Luke Sheldrick.

The hosts were asking questions again early in the second half and they extended their lead on 49 minutes as Dan Pett dispatched a low curling shot from the edge of the box for his first goal in Northwood colours.

Woods made it 3-0 just before the hour as Pattie held off the attentions of the Harefield defence, latching onto Moanda's pass before rounding keeper Dominic Cassells for his second of the evening.

Pattie made way for Max Holland soon after, while Kyran Worrell replaced Gosling, and Northwood threatened more goals as Cassells saved from Lucan. And the fourth goal duly arrived when substitute Matt Cooper, on for Andrew Ofosu, sent a deflected shot beyond Cassells.

Sheldrick was quickly off his line to deny Andrew Hardwood in a rare moment of danger for Northwood, with normal business being resumed as Worrell made it 5-0 on 84 minutes with a fine finish.

And the rout was completed two minutes from time as the deserving Lucan dispatched a delightful curling effort from 20 yards for his long-awaited first Northwood goal. A fitting end to an enjoyable evening for the Woods!
