The Woods recovered from their semi-final exit in the Middlesex Senior Youth Cup on penalties at Bedfont Sports by returning to winning form at home to Rayners Lane two days later.
The Lane were the only side to have beaten Northwood in the league this season so it was important to beat them in the return at the Skyline Roofing Stadium, and they started well, with Jeremy Scholz scoring for the third match running to give his side an early lead.
But the visitors hit back and were level at the break. With this game coming so soon after the cup-tie against Bedfont, several players had been rested to the bench and one of those was top scorer Alex Grant, who came on to strengthen the forward line in the second-half.
It turned out to be the key change as Grant notched two goals to secure a 3-1 victory for the Woods.
