Another hard game was expected as Kings Langley arrived at the Skyline Roofing Stadium and that was evident from an early stage as the visitors dominated proceedings and took an early lead with a goal from close range.

Northwood worked hard to battle their way into the game and Henry Atkinson scored an equaliser but the Kings kept coming and goalkeeper Henry Ford, making his first appearance of the season, made a couple of excellent saves to keep the scores level.

That was, until added on time in the first-half when the visitors were awarded a penalty with many thinking the foul was outside the area. They scored to leave the Woods trailing at the break.

But the Woods continued to show good spirit in the second half and deserved the equaliser when it arrived, again from the penalty-spot, this time scored by Brian McGovern.

There was no further score however, so it went to a penalty shoot-out. Henry Ford saved twice while Michael Kelly netted the final penalty for the Woods to take them through to the next round by a 4-3 spot-kick margin.
