Northwood win £5,000 windfall from Papa John's!!

The Woods were shocked but delighted to hear that they would be the beneficiaries of a £5,000 windfall thanks to the kind people at Papa John's UK after local resident Sam Sheehan won a competition that was run on the afternoon of the Papa John's Trophy Final between Rotherham United and Sutton United at Wembley Stadium. Sam entered the competition, which was to spot a group of delivery drivers in the crowd at Wembley - it wasn't that difficult in their bright yellow costumes! - and send the Company a tweet. Amazingly, out of all the entries, it was Sam that won himself a year's supply of delicious pizza from Papa John's but also the chance to nominate a local grassroots football club to receive the sizeable donation from the competition sponsors.

Sam has been to the club on just a few occasions and was only watching the football because his flatmate is a Sutton United supporter but he will certainly receive an invite to pop down to the Fenton Civil Engineering Stadium for a match and a drink or two when the new season starts again in August.

Club Secretary Alan Evans said "When Sam first sent me a direct message on Twitter to say that he'd won a competition and nominated Northwood FC to win a cash prize, I was a little sceptical but after checking out the Papa John's offers I could see that it was authentic and eventually I heard from the Pizza company directly and thought Wow that's brilliant! We are so grateful to Sam for nominating his local club for this prize as it will go a long way towards the improvements we want to make to the stadium in the summer months."

Our grateful thanks go to both Papa John's UK and to Sam for their kind gestures.
