Gas leak causes match postponement

This afternoon's Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture against Hanworth Villa at The Skyline Roofing Stadium has unfortunately been postponed due to gas leak elsewhere in the park, which means that there is no heating or hot water in the clubhouse and changing rooms.

The game will now be played on Tuesday 16th January, kick-off 7.45 p.m.

The Woods be back in action on Monday, New Years Day, when we travel to Binfield for an important Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture.

Southall come from behind to win at Skyline Stadium

Southall this afternoon came out on top against the Woods for the first time since 1983 – as the play-offs chasing visitors were 2-1 winners in the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central fixture at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

Kofi Anokye-Boadi put Northwood ahead on the hour mark, but Joshua Green levelled on 73 minutes before Brendan Matthews grabbed the winner three minutes from the end so the game ended in heartbreak for the Woods.

The Woods' poor run on artificial playing surfaces continued this afternoon when they suffered a 2-0 Pitching In Isthmian League South Central defeat on South Park Reigate's plastic pitch.

South Park took the lead on 17 minutes with the first chance of the afternoon in the strong wind. Northwood had a few chances after the break, with troubling the scorer, and with three minutes remaining the Surrey outfit grabbed goal number two - with their first effort of the second period!

Woods come out on top of hard-fought Guernsey game

Northwood had a hard-fought Pitching In Isthmian League South Central encounter against Guernsey at The Skyline Roofing Stadium this afternoon, with the Woods eventually running out 2-1 winners.

After a bright opening from the home side, it was Guernsey had the better of much of the first half, with young Woods goalkeeper Roraigh Browne making several good saves in a performance which later earned him the Man of the Match award.

But it was Northwood's half-time substitute Reece Cameron who broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, although within eight minutes Matt Loaring had levelled - before the lively Kofi Anokye-Boadi popped up with the winning goal on 71 minutes.

Northwood FC ends 50-year association with youth set-up

We bring sad news. Northwood Football Club has to announce that we have had to end our 50-year association with the Northwood FC Youth set-up.

Unfortunately, the relationship between the two clubs, which have been running independently for the last twenty years, has broken down over the last few weeks since the youth club’s decision not to meet the long-established requirements of the small annual contribution to the senior club via their subscriptions some three months or so into their current season. These had previously been promised by the current head of the youth section, who took over in the summer, but when requested recently this was not forthcoming.

We were advised yesterday by the head of the youth section, with whom we no longer have a working relationship, that he wished us to unlink the youth section from the senior club’s accreditation with the Middlesex County FA by midday and we reluctantly have acceded to that request. We are led to believe that the youth section will be looking to associate with a different club locally and we wish them well. The Under 18s midweek side remain affiliated to the senior club.

As a club, we will now need to consider our options going forward and we shall advise of that decision at a later date.

It does mean that the current youth section are no longer entitled to the many benefits the link with the main club gave them, including the right to enjoy the same opportunities as social members of the club, due to non-payment of the fees required but, as a gesture of good faith, we will still honour the current free youth parent Season Tickets to first-team home games. We know some of those parents enjoy attending games at The Skyline Roofing Stadium and we will continue to welcome them for the remainder of the season, despite them being no longer officially attached to the club.

We thank all of those players, managers and parents who have always been supportive of the senior club over many years and have enjoyed the privileges that the link has brought both parties.

We do not plan to issue any further statement at this time, but if anyone wishes to discuss the matter further, then as ever, please let us know by phone or come and see us in person.

The Woods slipped to a 1-0 Pitching In Isthmian League South Central defeat this afternoon away to new opponents in Ascot United.

In one of few games in the division to go ahead, thanks to their artificial playing surface, Brendan Matthew's 35th minute goal proved to be the dividing line between the teams.
