Woods season ends with a win at Molesey

Northwood's Bostik League campaign ended this afternoon with a 1-0 victory away to Molesey. And the defeat confirmed that the Surrey side would finish the season in 19th place and in the relegation zone.

It was the Woods' tenth away league victory of the season, and the three points confirmed a final placing in South Central of tenth - a creditable improvement on last term, so well done to manager Scott Dash and his staff, and to the players!

The winning goal arrived in the 76th minute when Matt Cooper made good run, and when the ball ran loose in the area, Alex Witham was on hand to hammer it home - his seventh in 13 Woods appearances this season. The match report and photos are here. The game was also the Non-League Paper's featured match.

The Byrne Stand is officially opened

Over the years, many people have contributed to the growth and development of Northwood Football Club. But there is only one family which has provided as many as five brothers to the cause – the Family Byrne.

As youngsters, brothers John, Dave, Ray, Pat, Paul, sister Dorothy and their mum played football and cricket in Northwood Recreation Ground, which was just a short walk from Rochester Road where they lived. All five brothers became involved with Northwood Football Club, and before Monday's match against Marlow, the club were very pleased and proud to officially name the main stand in The AcreTweed Stadium as The Byrne Stand, as our way of recognising their magnificent contributions over many years.

Marlow take the points on a big day at The AcreTweed

On a big day at The AcreTweed Stadium, Northwood went down 2-1 to Marlow in their final Bostik League home fixture of the season.

There was one of the Woods' biggest crowds of the campaign in attendance to see the official naming of The Byrne Stand in recognition of the great contribution that Dave, John, Pat, Paul and Ray have made to the club over the past six decades.

This was followed by the club's Under 16s parading the Middlesex County Cup that they lifted recently - the first time ever that a Northwood side have won this particular trophy.

Onto the game itself, and Marlow spoiled proceedings somewhat by taking the lead inside the first minute. The play-offs bound visitors added a second goal ten minutes before half-time; Northwood battled back strongly but only managed a Trey Charles goal on 84 minutes to show for their efforts. Sam Jenkins was named Active IT Solutions Man of the Match. The match report and photos are here.

Woods are beaten at Cheshunt

After some disappointing showings recently, Northwood gave an improved display away to Bostik League play-off chasing Cheshunt, but still slumped to a 0-3 defeat.

The Woods were forced to field something of a makeshift defence, with skipper Carl Pearce out injured. And they got off to a poor start, with the home side taking the lead in the first minute. Cheshunt scored a second just before the interval, and wrapped up the points with an 87th minute penalty. The match report and photos are here.

Defeat in County Cup semi-final

The Woods' last hopes of silverware this season were ended this evening when they lost 0-4 away to Ashford Town in the semi-final of the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup.

Ashford will now play Uxbridge in the final on 7th May.

The home side netted twice in each half to deservedly progress to the final, whilst Northwood look forward to the remaining three Bostik League fixtures of the campaign. The match report will be online later.

Woods are defeated by Bracknell

The club this afternoon staged its Annual Community Day at the AcreTweed Stadium, but the Bostik League visitors Bracknell Town clearly hadn't read the script as they ran out 3-0 winners to maintain a firm grip on the runners-up spot in South Central.

Bracknell were in charge for much of the game, taking the lead minutes before half-time, and adding a second a similar period after the restart. The third goal arrived in added time at the end of the game. The match report and photos are here.

Woods are beaten at Hanwell Town

Despite taking an early lead, the Woods slumped to a 1-3 defeat in this afternoon's Bostik League Middlesex derby away to old rivals Hanwell Town.

Northwood went ahead on six minutes when Zaied Sabti rifled home a low drive into the corner of the net following good approach work from Alex Witham and Kyran Worrell.

But Hanwell were level within two minutes with a headed goal following a corner, then two quick goals just before the break saw the home side take an interval lead which Scott Dash's side were unable to haul back. The match report and photos are here.

Under 16s are Middlesex Cup winners!!

Great news this evening, as the Northwood Under 16s have lifted the Middlesex FA County Cup, defeating St Josephs 1988
3-1, at Hanwell Town FC.

St Josephs took an early lead, but goals from Charlie Amasanti and Kilae Crockwell gave Woods a 2-1 interval advantage.

Then nine minutes into the second half a header from Charlie Amasanti after great work from David Levy made it 3-1, and ultimately clinched the trophy. David Levy was named Man of the Match, so well done to him!

Congratulations to the whole team and manager John Gowen; the team will parade the cup prior to the Bostik League game against Marlow on Easter Monday - we look forward to seeing them and acknowledging this wonderful success!

The match report is here and photos here.
