Northwood make it two wins in five days

After going sixteen games without a victory, the Woods have now won two Evo-Stik League South, East fixtures in five days to end the campaign, coming away from this afternoon's visit to Aylesbury with all three points courtesy of a 3-2 win.

Northwood took an early lead through Jermaine Osei, and although the home side did level, Woods led at the break through Meshach Williams' 33rd minute strike.

Aylesbury drew level within five minutes of the restart, with a cracking goal from all of 30 yards. But the Woods, in Gordon Boateng's last game in caretaker charge, had the final word, Golden Boot winner Jermaine Osei hitting the winner with his 14th goal of the season.

Woods Under 17 narrowly defeated in Under 18 final

The Northwood Under 17 Sunday team narrowly lost in the Middlesex Under 18s Cup Final this evening at North Greenford United FC.

It was a close-fought game, opponents Isleworth-based Academy side Conquest FC taking the lead on the half-hour mark. The Woods were awarded a penalty after the break, but Ellis Wynne’s spot-kick hit the post and then his follow up crashed against the crossbar before Femi Azeez volleyed the ball into the net.

But with five minutes remaining, Conquest netted what proved to be the winning goal with a 20-yard strike. However, congratulations to the Northwood team for playing so well in the competition, for which they were a year under age! Photos from the final can be seen here.

Wilson and Jermaine collect the awards trophies

The annual presentations were made in the clubhouse yesterday evening following the victory over Hanwell Town.

Congratulations go to the young Northwood captain Wilson Chingoka, who received the Supporters’ Player of the Year award, whilst Jermaine Osei collected the Golden Boot as top goalscorer.

Two late goals as Hanwell Town are defeated

The Woods chalked up their first victory in sixteen Evo-Stik League South outings as they netted twice in the final minutes to defeat Middlesex rivals Hanwell Town 2-0 at Chestnut Avenue this evening.

Northwood should have opened the scoring far earlier, but Keir Dickson's 89th minute cross-shot from 12 yards finally broke the deadlock in the 89th minute. And Evans Kouassi's neat finish one minute into stoppage time wrapped up the points in Acting Manager Gordon Boateng's final home game.

Three goals in five minutes does for the Woods

After a promising first half, the Woods crashed to a 3-1 defeat in their penultimate home Evo-Stik League South, East fixture of the season against Thame United this afternoon.

Northwood led at the break through Jermaine Osei's 21st minute penalty, awarded after Keir Dickson had been upended. But Thame levelled on 73 minutes - and by the 77th minute they were 3-1 ahead, and the Woods were unable to respond as their quest for a victory goes on.

Narrow loss for the Woods

A couple of soft goals cost the Woods at least as share of the Evo-Stik League South, East points against promotion-hopefuls Cambridge City at Northwood Park this evening, with the visitors just hanging on to win 3-2.

A goal ahead within five minutes, Cambridge had a let-off midway through the first half when Jermaine Osei crashed an effort against the crossbar, before City added a second after the Woods keeper spilled the ball. Skipper Wilson Chingoka pulled one back for Northwood on the stroke of half-time, only for Cambridge to net again early in the second period. But Woods' young side, again containing several teenagers, were back in it when Evans Kouassi hit a cracking goal from 18 yards on 79 minutes - but despite Northwood going close in the closing stages, Cambridge held on for the win that confirmed their place in the play-offs.

Single goal defeat for Woods at Fleet

A controversial early penalty goal cost Northwood dearly in their Evo-Stik League South, East fixture at Fleet Town this afternoon, the Hampshire side winning by that solitary goal.

The penalty award arrived on nine minutes when Isaac Olorunfemi was penalised for a foul on Bunyan when it appeared that the Woods defender was actually the victim not the instigator. But Bradley Wilson made no mistake with the spotkick which would ultimately decide the destination of the points.

attling Northwood take point from league leaders

An excellent battling Northwood performance earned them a deserved point against the league leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds at Chestnut Avenue this afternoon, the Evo-Stik League South, East game ending in a 1-1 draw.

And Northwood did it with midfielder Paolo Montella in goal for most of the second half, keeper Xavi Comas being injured, stretchered off and taken to hospital after being injured trying to keep out Rushden's equaliser five minutes into the second half.

The Woods had taken the lead on the half-hour mark, a fine flowing move being finished by Evans Kouassi's crisp finish, and despite fourteen minutes of stoppage time at the end of the game, they merited the share of the points. The match report and photos are here. The matchday programme is still available as a digital download; click here for your free issue.

We are pleased to report that Xavi was checked over thoroughly at the hospital, and had a deep head wound glued. The neck injury appears to be minor and he was allowed to go home but must continue to monitor it over the next 24 hours. Hopefully Xavi will make a speedy recovery!

Two quick goals see off Woods

Two goals early in the second half were sufficient for promotion-chasing Chalfont St Peter to take the Evo-Stik League South, East points in today's Bank Holiday game.

Chalfont took the lead through Brian Haule on 50 minutes, with Ryan Haugh adding a second three minutes later, after the first half had been fairly evenly balanced.

And Northwood were unable to find a goal to claw their way back into the match, so our losing run was stretched to six matches - although all have been narrow defeats. The match report and photos are here.
