Season halted by Government diktat

Following the rushed announcement by PM Johnson on Saturday evening on dubious grounds of another lockdown, the Football Association has today suspended football (both matches and training) from level seven downwards from Thursday. Though it is apparently safe to continue to play football from levels one to six, despite only the Premier League being subject to regular testing!

And even more crazy is the suspension of youth football, though the same youngsters can still take part in sport and games whilst at school!

We'll be back sometime, hopefully....

Staines hit 92nd minute winner

The Woods slipped to another Isthmian League defeat this evening, when they went down 1-2 to Staines Town at the Fenton Civil Engineering Stadium.

It was heartbreaking for Northwood, who had battled back from a 0-1 half-time deficit to level through Excel Muhemba on 85 minutes, only for their Middlesex visitors to grab the winner two minutes into stoppage time. The match report is here.

Woods score first but well beaten at Waltham Abbey

Aaron Morgan gave Northwood a 12th minute lead in this afternoon's Isthmian League fixture away to unbeaten divisional leaders Waltham Abbey.

But that was as good as it got for Rob Ursell's side as the Abbots hit back to score five times as they maintained their three points advantage at the top of the table. The match report and photos are here.

Tickets for next Tuesday's home fixture against Staines Town are now available online, costing £10 adults; concessions £5 (Age 65 and over; Students aged 16-18 and Armed Forces - proof may be requested at entrance). Remembering Pete Barry

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the passing of Pete Barry. Pete, the father of Club Chairman Ian, sadly passed away suddenly on 21st October 2016.

Pete's memory lives on to this day with our Garden of Reflection in his name outside the clubhouse; an area designed for our club members to sit and reflect on life and, of course, for those who have passed and are always in our thoughts.

Ian said "My Dad was such an inspiration to me and I miss him more than words can say. He was everything to me and he helped me get through many tough times at the club.

"I’m so pleased his memory is able to live on through the garden outside the club and the plaque inside the ground. I hope that I can do him proud, as he did me. I miss him dearly."

Northwood share the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Hanwell Town

The Woods turned in their best performance of the season this evening as they took a Isthmian League point from a well-merited 1-1 draw Hanwell Town.

Rob Ursell's Northwood side scored a great goal and showed real grit to keep Town at bay in the closing stages.

Hanwell took the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Woods equalised in style on 54 minutes. Substitute George Isaac made an instant impact as he returned to action following injury; beating two men and playing a 1-2 with Aaron Morgan to go clean through and place the ball past the keeper. As our correspondent said: What a goal!

The match report is here.

Woods lose Trophy thriller on penalties

The Woods suffered the heartache of a penalty shoot-out defeat by Heybridge Swifts in their Buildbase FA Trophy tie at the Fenton Civil Engineering Stadium this afternoon.

But that came after a disastrous first half which saw them lose skipper Dave Thomas through injury and concede three goals, leaving them facing a mountain to climb after the break.

Then Rob Ursell's side pulled a couple of goals back through Marcelo Graca and Devonte Toresaut - before in stoppage time keeper Hafed Al-Droubi headed in the sensational equaliser! Haf then made two saves in the shoot-out to continue his heroics, but sadly it wasn't quite enough as Heybridge won 5-4 to progress to the next round. Great game, though! The match report and photos are online here.

Two goals win it for Ashford

The Woods went down to a 0-2 defeat at the Fenton Civil Engineering Stadium this evening, visiting Ashford Town running out winners in their Isthmian League fixture.

The visitors took the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Northwood hadn't really threatened too much in the opening period.

Indeed, their best chances came after Ashford had netted their second goal with twenty minutes remaining; Siju Odelusi saw an effort hit the bar, whilst Devonte Totesaut saw the keeper make a fine stop from his penalty effort. The match report is here.

Chertsey are 3-1 winners at the Fenton

Debutant Siju Odelusi opened the scoring for Northwood at the Fenton Civil Engineering Stadium this afternoon, but a strong Chertsey Town side eventually ran out 3-1 winners in the Isthmian League fixture.

Rob Ursell went into the game with a lengthy injury list plus a suspension, and his side went ahead on 23 minutes when Devonte Totesaut sent in a cross from the right flank, and new man Siju Odelusi was in the right place to fire his side ahead.

Chertsey levelled the scores ten minutes later after the Woods had failed to clear a corner, and they took the lead seven minutes into the second half. The clinching third goal came on 80 minutes, when once again the home side had failed to clear a corner. The match photos and report are here.

Season tickets and Club 1926 memberships are still available

Just a reminder that our great-value season tickets are still available!!

The cost is just £45 to cover all League games (including our Under 18s in the midweek Youth League should you wish to pop down) so even if you attend only five games, you would at least break even, so it remains a really great deal for everyone local including perhaps Watford FC supporters.

We have already been really delighted with the number of people who have also upgraded their Season Ticket to a Club 1926 Membership, which for £145 adds one Player Sponsorship and also one home game where you (and three other people) can enjoy Boardroom Hospitality when it it is permitted again, in addition to the Season Ticket - it's a great value-for-money deal and we currently have small number remaining for the season.

The links for everything is here below for your convenience (though you can also do this direct here through the usual pages elsewhere on the website of course).

To complete Season Ticket or 1926 Membership Application - please complete from this link and return to Alan Evans either by email or in post to address given (where cheques can also be sent).
