Northwood arrived at Bedfont off the back of very good performances at both Woking and Camberley. In front of a very healthy crowd, the lads for some  reason could just not get going. Yes, the pitch was extremely difficult, but passing and our overall performance was poor.

Having said that, Woods did battle, and chances for both sides were few and far between, so at half time the sides went in at 0-0.

On the hour Bedfont took the lead after some scrappy defending, and when they doubled the lead after 72 minutes it looked like curtains. However what transpired from hereon in was quite remarkable.

A double substitution saw Imran Haidary and Giles Townsend introduced and suddenly Northwood were a transpired team! They were now taking the game to Bedfont, and pressure from a corner saw the ball cross the line off David Palmer's heel. The referee, who had already booked four Woods’ players in a game that actually was played in good spirits, consulted with the linesman and the goal was given.

Ten minutes to go now, and Northwood continued their onslaught, which saw an equaliser when Jamie McKay slotted home after good work by the impressive Adam Wais.

Northwood now looked the more likely to go on to win the game, and chances came and went as the referee added on several minutes of stoppage time. However, no further goals followed and Woods had got out of jail and escaped with a point.

After three away games on the road everybody will now be looking forward to next week’s FA Youth Cup match in which the Woods entertain Enfield Town – Thursday 12th September, kick-off 7.45 p.m.
